Customer Snapshot: National Blood Service

As part of an extensive competitive tendering exercise HMT has been awarded the contract to supply a staff rostering and time and attendance system for 2,500 shift staff involved in the collection, production and distribution of blood products throughout England and North Wales. The contract provides the option for RosterPro to be extended to all 6,000 NBS staff.

As part of the contract RosterPro has been developed to meet the specific requirements of the Services to Donors staff that collect blood from members of the public at hundreds of donation centres around the country. Duty rosters for these staff are automatically linked to an NBS donor session database enabled RosterPro to optimise staff schedules in line with anticipated donation activity.

The time and attendance details will be transferred electronically via the RosterPro R-Link module to their existing PRISM payroll system and then to the Electronic Staff Record system currently being implemented across the NHS.

The most recent decision is to implement the RosterPro R-Train Training Management module to provide the NBS with the ability to integrate all training schedules, venues, trainers, qualifications and competency records for NBS staff with the duty rostering process.
